We install a new drive belt
and find the sled operating unusual by shifting radically,
revving high to 8500 with hardly any throttle pressure, jumping
suddenly back down to a normal 6000 at part throttle.
We stop and examine the drive belt and clutches for any left
over debris that may possibly be hanging a clutch. 20
sleds @ 5 to 15K KM's each and I have never experienced this
before.
We are
in the Fort a la Corne! wikipedia. Fort de la Corne |Up to this point we have taken
turns riding the SR7, applying varying amounts of throttle
keeping the sled out of heavy riding conditions.
Hmmm, this road wasn't plowed
last year! But with the next 50 miles real lite and easy on the
SR7 drive belt we cruise.
Well this is a pretty official
looking sign...but man, really English Creek is in this
direction?
So now we're looking at the maps and this
doesn't make sense.
OK we will try this route, but we don't have a lot of fuel to gamble with.
Plus we have a sled that is not functioning properly.
Well this is one of a couple alternate
trails we try...
...in a couple of directions!
Finally we are off the bladed
trail...next to familiar signage, wow why that sign back there
with an English Cabin and Tower on it facing that way is beyond
comprehension!
...back onto powder covered trails
in the Fort a la Corne!
4:30PM we roll into Choiceland!
The SR7 is nursed thru the forest trails with an unusual
shifting clutch.
In Choiceland we get some help from Rob and
Colleen @ Mardells Service. We pry the primary open with a 2x4
to check all the moving parts.
The only thing we can
see wrong is a build up of rubber from the blown belt. This is
high out of low gear on the primary and shouldn't effect low
gear operation. We scuff both clutches with some lite emery
paper to clean all the sheaves. We got what we got and parked
for the night will see what tomorrow brings.
