Emma Lake had just
received a couple of good dumps of snow over the last couple of
week ends. Having been there just the weekend before we knew how
good it would be! We left Macdowall and took the North Cabin Road for the first time in
years, and what a treat, it was as spectacular as I remember it, the first time
we discovered it easily 20 years ago! We even checked out the fire tower and
discovered that in case of an emergency you are hard pressed even to get on site
because of their nice barriers and secondly if you wanted to climb the tower to
get reception on your cell you'd discover the bottom of the tower fenced off.
Like everything else something's always changing so roll with the punches and
thankfully I have lots of fire
tower pictures to enjoy from a different time. At least this weekend snow
away from tree rows and forest areas out in the open has started to set
up. In some fields 70- 80 MPH was obtainable, then back in others 500cc
machines like mine or typical 121's were just toast. You may as well
roll back on the throttle because Maximum power was only getting you
maybe 45MPH instead of 35-40 MPH at part throttle in the deep
