The ride from Macdowall and across the fields to
Shellbrook was fine, especially when you know the
country side well, but things change and you still have to watch like a hawk,
especially in such low light conditions. The ride up the Miners Creek Road was
as good as it gets, and if you followed the trail of snow dust in front of you,
there was no surprises. Your perspective would be lost if you pulled up,
right into the snow dust in front of you. As far as weather goes this is
one of the cloudiest days I remember, which if you were out in the open would
make your perception of the terrain difficult. But in the forest riding on the many
old back roads and forester corridors, and the contrast and definition of the
trees and surroundings provide perfect visibility. Getting Socked In in Saskatchewan
doesn't have to many negatives, and in the silvery dim light it's just nice to
have a different kind of day. The night ride from the North Branch was
spectacular, looking back, it looked like a pack of lights peeking thru the snow
dust appearing and disappearing with the rolling hills of No Rock Nisbet. |
