RIDE'N WITH THE BOYZ
MARCH 10, 2002

We started the day here on the old highway by Adamson Lake, with one other sled. Unfortunately right off the bat we found it wouldn’t stay running unless a set of battery cables were connected! On the other truck it headed back to Saskatoon, that sledders day was over before it began! Crisscrossing the country side we ended up close to Crystal Springs on our way to Birch Hills, and ran across this collection of old iron in a field! Near Crystal Springs we started nailing some carbide kill 'in, fast ball sized rocks, on the hill tops, true to the Geographical maps.

Big  touring Yamaha 540cc.

Looks like a
Ski-Doo, Alpine work horse and an Elan.

Kawasaki?

Polaris family model from the early 70’s.

Running like a Deere may no longer apply

The ride to Birch Hills was plenty entertaining, a number of impromptu drag races erupted into “a little longer field to field racing”. The resulting bottom line was the 121 inch and a quarter?.. 800 twin cats, had the ol’
Storm off the line every time. The Storm was stock with an ¾ inch…?....original track and wasn’t great out of the hole, BUT by the time these sleds reached 100 to 15 KM an hour, the Storm blew by the Cats like they were standing still. This lead to some good natured cat calls! etc etc, and as anyone could imagine running field to field many irrigation type canals and slough bottoms where dived into by accident “off and on”...."in and out of" the rest of the day.

Carbides are everything, when your riding some hard packed ditches and back roads. Back in St. Louis for fuel, it was getting late and we had just ditched it pretty much all the way from Birch Hills.

Although we….
aggressively ditched it back from Birch Hills (I was leading and what other chance did this little
500 XC SP have to shine)

All loaded up these Cats and Polaris’s had to get along for the trip back to the city!
